Hello my Babies,Mother Love on the cover of Diabetes Forecast
We have embarked on a mission to inform, enlighten, educate and entertain you about diabetes and its devasting complications. We are here to offer help, hope and happiness with diabetes!

We are coming to you as Novo Nordisk Inc. presents, The Mother Love Diabetes Awareness Bus & Truck Tour 2008. The buses and trucks will come later. It will be a fun time had by all. I know you are saying, "What's fun about having diabetes?" Well if you have or know someone who has it, you may as well make it work in your favor and have as much fun as you can! With all the new treatments, technologies and information available to us, we CAN get better together.

Team Mother Love will come to your city and show you how to make the most of managing your diabetes with fun, love and laughter. I am working with the American Diabetes Association on their latest campaign "I Decide to FIGHT  Diabetes" to raise awareness and funds with a lovely new charm you can purchase when you visit www.diabetes.org/idecide. I have the honor to be a guest on many many radio stations around the country since last December. I am sure many of you have heard me on your local

morning radio programs. If not what a good time to tune in so you don't miss the LOVE!

We will also join your community to share local resources, speak with your group, organization, church or school, I do on-site and in store cooking demos as well as share personal stories about living with diabetes. Sometimes we just hug and hold on to each other to know we are not alone, that someones cares.
I am working to manage my Type II Diabetes everyday since April 1990. There are now 21.8 million of us dealing with this insidious disease and another 54 million who are pre diabeteic, meaning you better get busy getting better. My assignment is to help us keep the disease at bay and stave off the many  preventable complications. We must become aware of the dangers of heart disease especially in women. We are not treated s aggressively as men with heart disease and must educate ourselves on getting and staying Heart Healthy.

This year we will partner with The American Heart Association to spread the word and get more information out to our sisterfriends regarding heart disease and how we can be well.
It is not easy as I say in my new book " Half the MOTHER Twice the LOVE, My Journey to Better Health with Diabetes ", (by the way made it to #7 on the Essence Best Seller list) but it can be done. We have to be mindful of excepting the necessary changes that have to be made in order to get and stay healthy. Checking our blood sugars regularly, preparing healthier meals, eating well and moving that body.
At this point I need my own cooking show because I am so good at this... I make a sugar free peach cobbler that will have you  shooing away small children because, you don't want to share! LOL! Yes it's that good!
We must take a proactive approach to our healthcare. It's not the doctors, nurses, your parents (especially if you're grown or think you are) it's your responsibility to get better, to be well. To exercise (I hate it too) do it anyway, remove stress, reduce excess body weight.

You see the government couldn't care less about our well being, drug costs are through the roof, diabetes care is a 134 billion dollar business and its off our backs! Then again why should they care when we don't seem to care. We want to eat everything on the menu super size it on top of that, smoke, drink, lay around, not exercise... OK enough about me in the old days.
There is so much we can do to better manage this equal opportunity destroyer. Diabetes doesn't care how rich, famous, cute, smart or fabulous (like me) you are. Remember it is our eyesight, kidney function, heart disease, strokes, lower limbs and premature demise that is at stake. And I know we are just TOO FABULOUS to go out like that. I see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is not an on coming train it is the oncoming light of my bright future!  Invite us to your city, come join the ride with me!

Let's Get Better Together!"
Peace...
